My happy place
When Instagram becomes something to print.
Diploma project carried out at the Applied Arts course, CPNE-AA, in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
In November 2021, Kim Kardashian posted a photograph on Instagram that drew more than 6.9 million likes and more than 33,000 comments from public accounts.
My Happy Place gathers those comments and turns them into a printed edition. What began as a mass of digital reactions becomes graphic, physical matter — another way of looking at how an image is commented on, interpreted and consumed on social media.
The project questions our relationship to images, to celebrity and to collective expression on Instagram, by carrying a piece of fleeting digital data over into a tangible object.
